GETTING MARRIED IN THE COTSWOLDS?

LOOKING FOR A COTSWOLD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Who captures all the chaos and good times?

If you’re looking for a docu-style snapper who shoots true documentary imagery for weddings in and around the beautiful Cotswolds, then you, my friend, have come to the right place.

A Gloucestershire boy at heart, I am very lucky to live within the glorious Cotswolds. Famous around the world for being one of the most picturesque parts of the UK, it is perhaps the most quintessentially “English” place you could possibly hope to get married in.

THE LARGEST AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY

Honey-hued stone cottages, rolling green hills and villages so pretty they look like they’ve been created by a set designer, the Cotswolds are just the definition of rural charm and it’s little wonder that they’ve been dubbed the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales. The churches are particularly lovely, with the oldest ones dating back to the 11th or 12th centuries.

An awful lot of people you’ll have heard of have said their “I dos” in the Cotswolds. Lily Allen, Kate Moss, Alex James (of Blur fame), Liz Hurley and rock offspring Jade Jagger have all walked down the aisle in England’s greenest and most pleasant of lands. You could say this neck of the woods was something of a stardust magnet.

THE COTSWOLDS IS SUCH A SPECIAL PLACE

But even if you don’t care about celebs, the Cotswolds boast some of the weirdest and most wonderful traditions you can imagine. “Wassailing”, for example, is the ancient art of singing (and drinking) to cider trees to “awaken them”, supposedly to ensure a good harvest in the new year (now THERE’S a decent excuse to get drunk). This happens all over the Cotswolds, unlike the better-known tradition of cheese rolling which happens only on Cooper’s Hill in Brockworth. This somewhat perilous annual event sees challengers from far and wide tumble with enthusiastic abandon down the near-vertical Cooper’s Hill in an effort to catch a rolling 9lb wheel of Double Gloucester cheese.

Still need convincing? In September every year, the little town of Newent hosts its much revered Onion Eating Competition, in which onions are typically gobbled up like apples in under two minutes. Yum.

I AM..

Based in the glorious Cotswolds

A recommended supplier at a whole load of local venues

Into taking “real” photos of real people

A believer in natural and unposed images

Seriously good fun to have around

I AM NOT..

Going to make you pose or pull silly faces

The type to try and stage a great shot

Going to miss a thing at your wedding (or turn up with onion breath)

“Hands down the best decision we made about the wedding was asking you to be our photographer.”

Jess & Erjan

Even if getting married either side of a bit of cheese rolling isn’t for you, the Cotswolds are home to some of the most spectacular wedding venues in the country. Cripps Barn in Cirencester is a magnificently rustic and romantic choice that’s perfect for big weddings, while Barnsley House (with its own cinema!) is a cracking choice for a small, intimate affair.

So if you’re looking for a Cotswold wedding photographer please do hit me up using the buttons below.

I limit my diary to around 30 weddings per year, so don’t drag your feet..
