“Jonny had photographed our friends wedding with spectacular results & we loved the style so much, we asked if they’d mind us booking Jonny too. He’s such a lovely person, great fun & he made everyone feel at ease. We’re so happy with the results!”
UNION CLUB WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | 50 GREEK STREET | SOHO LONDON
They met with a handshake at work. Tom proposed at home on the Sunday before they both were due to travel to their families for Christmas. Linda had a belting hangover, so reluctantly agreed to go to a local restaurant. Back at home she took off her coat, turned around, and thought Tom had fallen on the floor! They celebrated with a couple of pints at the local pub, followed by a bottle of fizz at home. No more hangover!
DID YOU HIRE A LONDON WEDDING PLANNER?
We didn’t hire a planner, but the Union Club has an amazing events manager Gordon Clark. He is super chilled and has everything in hand. We had absolutely zero stress with the planning. Gordon also helped us out with timings, ideas for food and drinks, a brilliant DJ. He even sorted out arrangements with the registrars and florists. We are so grateful to Gordon and the team at the Union. They absolutely made our day!
WHAT WAS YOUR UNION CLUB SOHO WEDDING INSPIRATION?
There was no theme for the wedding. We always wanted to have a very informal day, and wanted the guests to feel they were at a big party. The Union is a beautiful club with so many pictures and paintings to look at. there was no need for any plans for extra decoration. The tables were decorated very simply with some bunches of white flowers, candles, white linens classy table cards.
YOUR FAVOURITE WEDDING DETAILS?
Linda’s Mum added some lovely details to the day. Tiny bottles of sloe gin with hand embossed cards were the highlight. these were months in the making from berry picking to re-filtering. They made for some pretty punchy favours! She also arranged some lovely bespoke place cards from Smythson with our initials. There was matching table cards with a pheasant logo, Diptyque candles in Ambre and Vanille for each table.
WHY CHOOSE THE UNION CLUB GREEK STREET FOR YOUR WEDDING VENUE?
It was the third venue we looked. We decided immediately that the Union Club in Soho was perfect for what we wanted. Everything could be held at the venue, and the whole building is yours for the day. We loved everything about the club. The look, the location, the open fires and the fact that Gordon sat us down for a chat and offered us a drink rather than rushing us around and kicking us out! One of the most important things to us was the day felt totally relaxed.
INBAL DROR DESIGNER WEDDING DRESS.
The dress by Inbal Dror, bought from Morgan Davies Bridal in London. After seeing some Inbal Dror designs online, I booked an appointment with Morgan Davies. This was the only bridal appointment that I had. I ordered the dress the same day. The sleeves and the beading are quite unusual, a bit ‘Lord of the Rings’ (as I said to Tom loudly during the ceremony.. oops). The detailing is beautiful. The Morgan Davies team were brilliant, particularly Katie who helped me choose the dress. Also Katie Burch is an absolute genius and altered the dress perfectly. Shoes were Christian Louboutin. If you’re going to dress up as a Christmas fairy, you might as well really go for it! Jewellery was an antique turquoise and pearl pendant given to my parents.
GROOM’S DAPPER WEDDING ATTIRE?
Tom had a suit made for him by Graham and Jamie at Norton & Townsend near Spitalfields. After having no clue what to choose, Graham and Jamie helped Tom choose some beautiful fabrics and made him an absolutely awesome, perfectly fitting suit. It even had ‘L&T’ embroidered on an inside pocket! As Tom wears a suit and tie to work, it was quite important to look a bit different for the day – hence no tie and oxblood shoes. Tom’s shoes were Hugo Boss. Coat, shirt and pocket square all Hackett. Bridesmaid’s dresses & shoes:: Bridesmaids all wore Ghost, with their own choice of shoes. Hair was styled by Vessy and Hasan at Inanch, and all did their own makeup.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO FUTURE COUPLES FOR THEIR WEDDING DAY?
Don’t worry about details. Absolutely no one will care (or probably even notice) if something isn’t perfect. Everyone is there because they are happy for you and want to celebrate the day with you. Also, don’t have your hen party the week before the wedding. It’s so tiring! If you do, fit in some emergency facials before the wedding day! Tom’s advice is have a quick read of the ceremony text! Have a great time planning. It is so exciting when it all comes together. Particularly a week or so before the day.
