“We couldn’t be happier with the photographs that we will now treasure for a lifetime. Jonny’s given us a chance to laugh and cry through the whole day again and again. It’s quite honestly the best money we spent!”

Spittleborough Farmhouse Wedding | Wiltshire | UK

Hannah & Dave met courtesy of a best friend (bridesmaid Lorna), so it’s all her fault really! She knew both well and insisted that they’d be perfect for one another. Many eye rolls later and damn, she was right! The proposal story is a little more romantic than Hannah would ever have imagined (Dave is the man that presented her with bags of flour from the baking cupboard instead of actual flowers)! Away for a weekend away in Cornwall, which is where Hannah grew up, the plan was to pop to the chippy and tuck in to them sitting in her favourite spot (her Grandad’s bench in Falmouth). Unfortunately, many traffic jams on the motorway had delayed plans and they reached the chippy just after it had shut! Dave couldn’t bare to drag it out much longer, so they headed to the bench for a drink and to take in the views. He popped the question and the rest is history!

What was your countryside wedding inspiration?

Here are some words that spring to mind- Party. Relaxed. Wing it! We just aimed to make it a day we would both enjoy Having drinks, dancing and making memories with our loved ones.

Wroughton church was a must for us. It has a lot of meaning for family and felt right. Plus, who doesn’t love a church wedding! The reception venue, Spittleborough Farmhouse, provided the perfect backdrop for our day. Allowing us room for a huge marquee, BBQ, outdoor games and space for the ice cream van! We wanted a venue that had lovely views but a relaxed atmosphere. Spittleborough ticked all of the boxes.

Why did you choose your wedding dress and what did you love about it?

The dress, well this brings back some memories! Trying on more dresses than I care to mention! I eventually found my way to Victoria Marie Bridal, and Vicki suggested I try a dress that was on the mannequin. It didn’t appeal to me much, but I went with the flow- they say the bridal shops know best! My first words when I looked in the mirror were “I don’t hate it”! I soon realised that I loved how it made me feel. My mum and gran’s reactions were enough to consider it a done deal! The dress was taken in by the fabulous Helen of Sew it Fits. She did a fantastic job of lifting it on the shoulders, scooping the neck and making the illusion back sit flush against the skin. I was able to get down on the dance floor for ‘oops upside your head’!

Groom’s attire was from Suits Direct and the shoes from Next. It didn’t take much searching for, as soon as he tried on the suit he knew it’d be ideal for him. The shoes, he assures me, were comfy. Also confirmed by the endless dance moves he pulled all night! Bridesmaid’s dresses were from Monsoon and suited each of the three lovely bridesmaids. They all chose their own shoes and were all relieved when I stipulated that they needed to wear flats!

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Do what is right for you both, forget other people’s opinions! Relax and enjoy every moment, you’ll quickly forget the small things. Take a moment away from the day so you can just to enjoy each other, even if just for a few minutes.

We knew from the start that photography was really important to us. When we stumbled upon Jonny’s work we knew he was the man for the job . He certainly didn’t disappoint and we couldn’t be happier with the photographs that we will treasure for a lifetime. He managed to capture our whole day, as well as all the bits we missed. He’s given us a chance to look back at everything and laugh and cry through the whole day again and again.

Jonny took the time before the wedding to get to know us and really sussed what we wanted for our day. He made us feel totally relaxed all throughout the day. He blended in and felt like he had always known us. Putting everyone totally at ease and catching many of the guests completely unawares make the most fabulous photos! Jonny made sure to give us some time for ourselves just to share a moment together, and captured this beautifully. Looking back at the pictures, they really tell the story of the whole day perfectly. Jonny made it feel that it was our day. He captured the real ‘us’ entirely.

If we were to recommend him to our best friend, what would you say? Do it. You won’t regret it. It’s quite honestly the best money we spent! Unless of course you don’t want your drunken dance moves in print forever!
