A Colourful Wedding at Elmore Court | Chris & Agatha

When your wedding inspiration is simply “big bright colours and a proper party,” you know it’s going to be a good one.

Chris and Agatha’s wedding at Elmore Court was joyful, relaxed and completely centred around bringing their favourite people together on the dancefloor. After postponements, lockdowns and long waits, their day felt like a release, full of laughter, hugs and epic live music.

Agatha and her best friend Meg moved in to their first flat together in London after graduating. At the flat-warming party, Meg invited her Uni friend Chris, and the rest (after a very enjoyable period of will they/won't they) is history!

Why They Chose Elmore Court

Elmore Court felt right immediately. Located not far from where the bride grew up, it struck the perfect balance between elegance and warmth. They loved that everything could happen in one place, ceremony, drinks, dinner, dancing, with family and the wedding party staying overnight.

They were also drawn to the venue’s strong commitment to sustainability, something that felt important to them.

And then there’s The Gillyflower. The purpose-built reception space is a dream for party-loving couples. Incredible acoustics, loads of space, and an amazing sound system, it was made for nights like theirs.

(If you're planning your own wedding there, you can read more about the venue spaces and logistics in my full Elmore Court wedding venue guide.

Wedding Inspiration: Bright Colours & Big Party Energy

Neither of them began the planning process with a strict vision. But once the pieces started coming together, a theme emerged: bold colours, relaxed vibes, and one huge celebration.

Their wedding took place not long after Covid restrictions were lifted, so the priority was simple, gather everyone they love in one place and throw an unforgettable party.

And that’s exactly what happened.

The band, Truly Medley Deeply, played two absolutely epic sets in the evening that kept the dancefloor packed from start to finish. The atmosphere was electric, joyful chaos in the very best way.

"The photos Jonny took really captured the joyful spirit of the day and I know we will treasure them forever, every time I look at them it just takes me right back to that day and all those feelings!"

A Relaxed Approach to Wedding Photography

Chris and Agatha were very clear about one thing: no cheesy, overly posed photos.

“We’re both pretty awks in front of the camera,” they said, “so we wanted someone chilled, down to earth and who would make us feel at ease.”

Their biggest fear? Getting the photos back and not loving them, with no way to redo the day. Instead, what they received were natural, joyful images that captured exactly how it felt to be there.

“We still wistfully look at the photos on a daily basis. They just take me straight back to that day and all those feelings.”

We kept things relaxed, with gentle direction when needed, and a clear plan for family photos so nothing felt stressful. The rest of the day? Pure candid storytelling.

Planning Advice From Chris & Agatha

If you’re at the start of wedding planning and feeling overwhelmed, their advice is simple:

Book your venue and secure your date first.

“Having an actual date really helps focus the mind. After that, prioritise what’s most important to you, whether that’s food, free bar, band, flowers, and deprioritise what’s not.”

For them, it was always about atmosphere and music. And that clarity made decisions much easier.

The Wedding Day Fashion

Agatha wore a stunning gown by French designer Margaux Tardits, sourced from The Mews in Notting Hill.

The dress featured an intricate fitted lace bodice with a flowing silk skirt, elegant but practical (perfect for “all the eating and drinking” she had planned). It fit like a glove, and she felt “a million dollars” in it.

Chris had a bespoke suit made by Cad & The Dandy. In what he describes as pushing the boat out, he opted for an ever-so-slightly lighter shade of navy than usual. Jokes aside, it’s a timeless suit he’ll wear for years to come.

The bridesmaids wore Reformation dresses (purchased three years earlier thanks to Covid postponements!) and looked incredible in bold, flattering silhouettes that complemented the colourful aesthetic.
