“You were great from the second we contacted you! So friendly and personable. We instantly knew that we wanted you! On the day we felt really relaxed and you knew exactly what we wanted! You have an amazing eye. Definitely no forced smiles on our day!”

They both swiped right on Tinder. The rest is history.
I’d love to leave the story of Amy and Tom there! Alas, it’s too good to cut short like that. Let us skip ahead to the proposal. Tom suggested they go for dinner on a random Thursday evening, at Missoula in Milton Keynes which happened to be where they had their first date. Hmm.. suspicious behaviour Tom! They walked up to the restaurant and just before they got to the door he turned around and before Amy knew it he was down on one knee!! Afterwards they carried on inside for dinner….or so Amy thought, all their family and friends were upstairs and had watched and filmed the whole thing! Good job Amy said yes!
Amy & Tom’s rustic barn wedding venue
Here’s their wedding day story told by non other than the bride herself:
We did all of the planning and preparing ourselves but wanted to be able to relax on the day. That’s why we contacted Sarah Sweet-Rowley from Sweet events to coordinate. She was fabulous- meaning we didn’t have to worry about anything! We wanted rustic charm with a touch of glamour- something that was a reflection of us! Furtho Manor Farm wedding venue, although only 5 minutes from our house, we had never seen it! Upon viewing the venue we found a totally empty barn on a farm but immediately I could see it was perfect! We knew that we could tailor every aspect of the day which meant that we loved every second of it
The lead up to the wedding was most enjoyable- being able to set the barn up ourselves and see it all transform! We both love America and chose to Honeymoon there so our table names were based on places we had been, were going to or plan to go in the future! I made the table plan myself which I was pleased with! Having a live band was incredible and meant we knew our guests would have a great time! The fish and chip van is one that comes down our road and I have known it for as long as I remember! Who doesn’t love fish and chips? Choosing bell tents for our wedding accommodation down by the lake was wonderful!
A Sophia Tolli wedding dress
The wedding dress was by designer Sophia Tolli and purchased from Once in a Lifetime in Stony Stratford. The shape and subtle shimmer of it was perfect! The corset meant that it was really flattering, I just felt wonderful in it! Audrey at Once in a Lifetime made me feel very special each time we went for a fitting! We hired all the men’s suits from Victor Boss in Buckingham after my brother hired suits from them for his wedding three years before! Bridesmaid’s dresses & shoes were from Debenhams and New Look
The advice I’d give to any future brides is enjoy and embrace every second of the day. Everyone says it but it really does go so quickly so try and take it all in! If you’re thinking of doing something, go for it- you will only regret if you don’t. I was worrying whether is should sing or not and I am so glad that I did now. Enjoy the planning and don’t let it get you stressed, once the day comes the small things won’t matter as much, everyone enjoying themselves is what makes it memorable. Take time with your husband, we made sure we had 10 minutes at the church before the van came back to pick us up after everyone had left to go to the farm, just to take in what had just happened! The most important thing is not feeling pressured to do anything because other people want you to. Don’t obsess over small things, although the details matter the things that people will remember is how well they were fed and how much they wanted to dance! Make your day personal to you.
