“We instantly clicked with Jonny when we met him for our pre-wed shoot. He is someone we could be friends with in the outside world so blended in well and was able to have a good laugh with all of our friends. He was unobtrusive yet managed to capture all the amazing moments from every angle. All the pictures were so natural and relaxed which was the way the wedding felt.”
Rachael & Oli | Dordogne Wedding Photos | France
Oli & Rach met at Warehouse Project in Manchester. Rach was living in London and Oli was living in Leeds at the time. Oli started messaging Rach on Facebook following this and they both met up in London the following weekend and every other weekend after that. The rest is history. Fast forward to their wedding day, the most important thing for them was to have a really relaxed vibe with good food, good wine and some french sunshine! Here the adventure their own words..
Describe some of your favourite wedding details and how you came up with them.
The venue Chateau Soulac was the most idyllic setting for our special day. We had access to the old stables which were full of wedding decorations from photo booth props to candles to parasols for guests to use during the ceremony. There were lanterns hanging in the trees which looked beautiful as night fell.
Why choose a Dordogne wedding venue?
We took a risk and booked it initially online before going to see it in person but we had faith in our wedding planner when she told us it was a beautiful venue. We were blown away when we went to visit it and it got us so excited for the big day. The stunning views of the Dordogne round the back of the chateau made it the perfect location for champagne and canapes.
Tell me about the dress.
The dress was by Pronovias from the London flagship store on Bond Street. I ended up spending over my budget but I fell in love with it instantly when I put it on. I like the way that it is classic but the cut of the front and sides gives it a modern edge.
Bride: What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day?
We were very lucky that the celebrations were spread across 3 days – (we had drinks on the Friday evening and a BBQ and pool party on the Sunday), this meant we didn’t feel under pressure to speak to everyone on the day of the wedding and we could just relax and enjoy the moment. I would really recommend doing this.
Groom: What advice would you give to future grooms for their wedding day?
It’s a cliché answer, but pause and take it all in particularly during the speech look around and see the smiles on everyone’s faces.
What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Billy Joel, Only a Woman and out to The Beatles, Here Comes the Sun
What song played for your first dance?
Bob Dylan Make You Feel my Love
