A Destination Beach Wedding | Cyprus | Nat & Alex
Being asked to photograph a wedding in Cyprus was lucky. Being asked twice was a complete blessing. Or just plain jammy dodgerings. Two years ago I packed my suncream and headed for Neo Chorio for the wedding of Penny & Edward. Fast forward to 2017 and once again I’m in the Fiat 500 hire car heading North from Paphos airport for the wedding of Natalie & Alex.
Nat & Alex met in Chinatown in Soho, London. I love the story Nat told me on how they met: “I had been on an awful date, so had a friend rescue me and we decided to get Chinese food. Alex was walking past on his way back from a party and we locked eyes as we walked past each other. He still claims I winked at him which I highly doubt! Anyway, he stopped me and got my number and the rest is history!”
Fast forward to the proposal. “It was in The New Forest, and Alex nearly got knocked out and killed by a wild horse moments before!” Smooth moves Alex, smooth moves.
Fast forward yet again to their wedding day. Well, lets not forget the day before the wedding day. Two words: boat party! Pulling out of Latchi harbour with the tunes blazing and seeing the beautiful
landscape fall further away as we sail out to sea was nothing short of magical. Cue the beers and the inflatable swan!
Agios Minas Church | Souli Beach Hotel Wedding
The next day had an essence of deja vu for me. The Orthodox ceremony took place in Agios Minas Church. The same church I was in nearly exactly two years ago! In all of Cypus and I’m back at the same Church! The colourful decor takes your breath away. So did the bumpy ride up the hill from Latchi in the ‘chicken buses’. So called because they used to transport chickens around the island. After the ceremony we all headed to Souli Beach Hotel for loads of Greek food and Greek dancing. Of course there was going to be Greek dancing!
Here’s a selection of images from this incredible wedding..
