“We wanted the whole day to be relaxed and certainly didn’t want our day taken up with posed wedding photos- we just wanted real moments captured! Jonny was such good fun! He was just a part of the wedding day and we didn’t even realise he was taking so many photos!”
Sara & Michael actually met through Instagram! They had a couple of mutual friends and decided to meet up for a drink. Michael proposed 18 months later on a surprise trip to Northern Ireland. Here’s their wedding day story told by the beautiful Sara.
Chateau la Gauterie Wedding Photography
We organised most of the wedding ourselves however we did get a lot of support from the chateau owner Sarah https://www.chateaulagauterie.com
We wanted to keep it classy and let the venue and the surroundings do the talking. The theme was all white flowers and added a touch of pastels here and there. Chateau la Gauterie is such a beautiful venue we didn’t need to do much to make an impact. My favourite part of the wedding was our beautiful wedding marquee which happened by default! In hindsight, we were a bit naive thinking the weather in France would be sunny throughout the whole of June. As we lead up to the wedding the occasional thunderstorm got us thinking we need to provide some shelter! Luckily the chateau owners put us in contact with a marquee hire (who were available last minute) and they came and built up the beautiful marquee on the grounds.
Saint-Paul-Lizonne | Dordogne | France
There is so much choice in France for wedding chateaus. When I came across Chateau la Gauterie I knew it was the one. The interiors and exteriors just blew me away! It took me over a year to find my perfect dress. Finally I found the one at blue bow bridal in County Durham, the gown it’s self is an enziano design. I felt it was a perfect mixture of classy, modern with a traditional twist. The groom and groomsmen suites were all from Next. The bridesmaid’s dresses & shoes were all from ASOS apart from my bridesmaid Kaylee who is seven months pregnant. We had to have hers specially made to match the other girls!
Advice to future brides and grooms for their wedding day
It’s so hard to try and stay relaxed in the day but please try your best just relax and take it all in. Also just remember this day is for you and your fiancée so you don’t need to please all the people all of the time! Try and be as organised as possible! Keep a diary or tasks you want to concentrate on over a certain time scale and a folder with all confirmations/contracts to hand. Michael just wants to add- Happy wife happy life…
